The Art of War in Joshua Tree

In this project, the writing of military men and women about their experiences of war in all of its facets provided the inspiration for local visual artists, who made works in response to their words. This collaboration resulted in creative, paired presentations which were put on display at the Joshua Tree Listening Lounge both weekends of the 2013 HWY 62 Art Tours. A special event co-hosted by Mil-Tree and Radio Free Joshua Tree was held on Friday October 25th, 2013 presenting the work and featuring live readings and performances by contributors.

Mil-Tree’s project “The Art of War”  purpose has been twofold: to give recognition to military poets and writers, and to use the power of words and images to educate the public about their experience.
